February 5 Annual Dinner

The 43nd annual dinner to be held at Port Jefferson Country Club. Election of officers and trustees, committee reports. |
April 17 Celebration Parade

A Saturday Parade celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Methodist Church. Parade will include areas of Port Jefferson important in the church's history. |
April 23,24,25 Antiques& Garden Weekend
Fri, 6-8 PM Wine & Cheese Reception Sat.& Sun 10 AM - 5 PM All Day Show and Sale

Three day antiques & garden show in the Village Center. Three floors of quality vendors selling antiques and collectibles. The Suwassett Garden Club will have a garden booth with flowers and plants and a bake sale of homemade goodies. The weekend will include raffles, 50/50 drawing and refreshments. Admission Friday is $25. Admission Saturday and Sunday is $5 ($1 off with postcard). Call (631)473-2665 for more information. |

June 12 Spirit Tour

A special tour of Cedar Hill Cemetery in celebration of its 150th anniversary.The "spirits" of local residents will be your guide and tell you of their history as well as the history of the area. |
July 3 Museum Shop Opens

The Museum Shop has donated and consigned antiques for sale in the 1840's Craft House located to the right of the main house. Come find that "special" gift or treasure.The shop is open the same hours as the museum.

July 3 Opening of the museum

The Mather Museum opens for the season with the newly refurbished interior. Featured this year is the newly received collection of antique evening bags which includes mesh, beaded, enameled and fabric bags from the late 19th Century to mid 20th. The museum is open with guided tours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Donation $3. |
July 5 4th of July Parade

The Historical Society will have a float in the annual 4th of July Parade which travels down Main Street starting at 10:00 a.m.

September 5 Closing Day
|
Although the museum will be closed for the winter, the museum shop will remain open for selected weekends |
October 16 - The 23nd Annual Country Auction
|
Outdoor Antiques Auction under a tent on the museum lawn (rain or shine). You'll find many unique items to choose from. Preview starts at 9 a.m. Auction starts promptly at 10 a.m. |
December 4 - Holiday Party
|
Victorian Christmas tree and decorations, toy and doll exhibit, and refreshments. |
